Mostly offroad. A rather hard climb of over an hour leads up to 1300m and the Padul-Almunecar road. The route follows the road for a few kilometers (opportunity to get refreshments at Bar/restaurant La Toba).
The route then follows the lower camino forestal back towards Albunuelas. The track leads over the pass of Puerto Venta Lata and then descends past the picnic area at El Canuelo.
